They trickle onto sidewalks, miniature monsters and superheroes,
pint-sized princesses,
a parade of personalities
costumes not concealing
naked delight
glowing like haloed streetlights
above loot bags sagging under the weight of chocolate pumpkins filled with peanut butter,
candy corn, Skittles, and Laffy Taffy,
lollipops and gummy bears.
Doors open in anticipation, sweets and treats freely given,
witches and moons like beacons in the night,
black cats safely silhouetted in windows,
parents pulling wagons laden with the labor of their love
on this eve hallowing all,
the Great Pumpkin rising
in a sincere patch.
