A look into my mind

It was a Tuesday that changed her life,

A Tuesday where a mother spawned from a wife,

Laying down dreams of subtle possibilities,

While the young one was clueless of all hostilities.

Still she smiled at the life she bore anew,

While nightmares in time were due.

They held the child in high regard,

A healthy baby boy who never knew life would be so hard,

He grew slowly, features awkward and frail

His voice was soft but could always tell a tale,

Never seeing the dangers, always hiding from fear,

Never knowing his fate should ever be clear.

At the age of 6 he could tell something's was wrong,

His mother wore bruises and heartache but was strong.

The years rolled by and the age struck 8,

This was the year he would learn to hate,

His world crumbled and shattered, left confused and lost,

Not allowed to show his weakness at all costs.

The trauma real, painful, and everlasting,

With thoughts of fear and nightmares of father,

Fueled sleepless nights and endless terrors of what if?

The years just kept getting harder.

The debts of the mother creeping their way in,

Soon to be what did her in.

As year 10 came through he began to grow sad,

The first attempt was easy and he felt mad,

The cry for help was loud and clear,

To which almost no one truly could hear.

He sat across kids who knew nothing of his pain,

As he moved past his 5th year feeling the same.

His middle school years were brutal,

Full of heart ache and embarrassment,

While the teachers and parents turned a blind eye to the harassment,

3 years in Karate helped build a little character,

Without guidance, love, support,

What good was character when you come up short?

He sifted through pain, finding some rays of hope through mistake,

But all it ever truly amounted to was the feelings of pure hate.
