Trapped Sun

A poem

I am the Sun trapped in the dark

Forbidden to shine past the horizon

Ominous clouds confront me, they shatter my rays

The blood I bleed stains the sky red

I try to struggle beyond this agony

(And rise)

I am the Sun trapped in the dark

Frightened to shine as this world has become so calamitous

To the East is despair and to the West is distress

Mocked by the stars of the Heavens

I try to grapple against the weight of this emotional gravity

(And rise)

I am the Sun trapped in the dark

Forsaken are the dominions I used to illuminate

My muddied fate overcasts any hopes of serenity

At most fear will reign high in this atmosphere

My lungs choked by the pollutant smog of rejection

I try to wrestle for a fresh breath of clarity

(And rise)

I am the Sun trapped in the dark

Focusing my vision inside this cataclysmic storm

The winds of woe whirl all around me

Thunderous negative connotations rumble deep

I try to find shelter amid consciousness and concerns clashing in sleep

(And rise)

I am the Sun trapped in the dark

But the time has come to weather the storm of my mind

As it forecasts the manifestations of fears and failures

I will try to break free,

and rise.
