As I huddle in my shattered home,

I hear the sound of gunfire close.

I see the flash of bombs that roam,

And feel the tremors as they blow.

I try to block out the screams and cries,

The wailing sirens and the roar.

But I can't escape the fear that lies,

Trapped in the crossfire of a war.

I wonder when this hell will end,

When will the fighting cease to be?

I pray for peace to soon descend,

But for now, I am just a victim, you see.

I long for the days of normalcy,

For the sounds of laughter and joy.

But until the guns fall silent, I'll be

Trapped in this city, destroyed.
