Transmutation

For "Static" challenge

By K.B. Silver Published 2 months ago 1 min read
AI generated image of a fulgurite AKA petrified lightning

Drained
 Of color
Ivory hymns
  Pour onto a
   Rainbow page
   All that remains
  Light and  Shade
 Absorbing the  Fear of
My own      Unknown

Empty        My cracked vessel
Keeps filling       To the line with
    Shame       Every step I take
 Pain sloshes            Through
Leaving a trail         Proof of every
 Heart-torn wail

     Hollow   Vibrations echo
 Waves of light      And sound
  Ricochet        Static
Chipping away      At the
 Ponderous weight   Pinning
 Me to the ground

  Deserted  Like a vase
   Broken Discarded
    Despised for
  Being dropped
 For cracking
  But not
Smashing
 Instead
  I slowly
   Erode
  Into sand

 Charged
 Reforming
In an instant
 Reborn
  The heat of
   The bolt
    Frees me to
       Forge
     New   Chaotic paths
  Unearthed    The tide rolls
My tendrils tested    Only two choices
      Cooled      Or fragmented
Will I stand      In the dawning?
  View the orange   Curtain rise
Or be swept away   Rounded off by the
 Ocean’s sway

Petrified lightning     A lucky strike
  Forked and      Sparking
   Chemically    Altered
     I emerge  Solid
      Gleaming   My inner light split
    A rainbow     Bent
  Violently        Streaming
