I wish that I could take the world

And turn it upside down.

I think of what it would be like

To roll it like a marble:

blue and green and white.

I wouldn't throw it:

I'd turn it topsy-turvy and give it a shake

And see what Earth decided to let go.

I'm hoping slippery toerags will be first.

They should slide right on out.

But what about those who have their hooks in the world

Like annoying ticks?

I'd rub the world on my thigh

Like a cricket ball

And hope that would detach some of those bloodsuckers.

Earth's magnetic core would make the good ones stick,

Surely?

And all the animals? Even those without suckers on their feet?

And those that eat others?

Maybe it's already topsy-turvy.

Maybe just tipping it will set it on its right path again.

I wish it were that easy

But I am not a god

And I'm wondering where they are at the moment.

Perhaps Earth is the smallest marble

And not worth keeping or winning.
