Tonight, I think my grandmother might die
Her life was long and her last breath elongated;
She was the passive Queen-mother bee
Who watched us grow. Meanwhile, she waited.
And now her colony awaits as the last process begins,
In what way is death a friend of suffering?
In what way can we be what she needs
When she has never asked for anything except our company?
This is a lonely hour.
And we will regather
We'll exchange condolences and say
It was fortunate that we all came together that day.
I only pray to God when somebody dies.
Whose life is truly made easier when she is alive?
She was our warmth despite the cold spreading inside her,
The reason for our worry and for every golden hour.
