Tomorrow

A Poem

I live in the world of

Tomorrow will be better

The little slice of hope

An ounce of optimism

Gets me through the current day

I should live in the world of

Today is a good day

Embrace its potential

Welcome its promises

See the adventures to come

But we can’t all be that lucky

We can’t all have good todays

We can’t all wake up in the morning

See the sunshine behind the clouds

See the hope in the darkness

And move on

My sad little world of

Tomorrow will be better

Gets me through the todays

It lets me hang onto hope

It lets me think of better things

It is optimistic in its pessimism

Perhaps one day I will get to

Today is a good day

Perhaps one day I will think

Yesterday was a mess but

Today has all the hope

But until then I will hold onto

Tomorrow will be better

And be ignorant to the fact

That tomorrow never comes
