Today I succeeded

Today I succeeded.

Not in everything,

Or even in most of my goals,

But in some things.

I made three people laugh

(and most of the office cry)

I soothed fears into a smile

I made an appointment

I wrote 2000 words on three seperate projects

I offered advice

(and some harsh truths)

I did my weekly shopping

I took money out of my savings

To cover an unexpected expense

And still had enough left for big emergencies.

I made dinner myself

And meal-prepped for the week

I started an article,

I wrote five sentences

Before abandoning it for this poem.

I didn't do everything

But I did enough.

*It was pouring rain when I arrived at work, and I got the sheltered parking spot nearest the door. Several of my co-workers were not happy about having to walk longer distances in the rain. It wasn't malicious, but I did feel a little bit bad about it.

Work was particularly exhausting, so I was struggling to focus on a single project, but hey, I managed to complete this poem, so I finished one non-work thing.
