To Those Who Wish for War

The damned war

By Javier Published about a year ago • 1 min read

This morning I was watching the news and reflecting:

there are guys in expensive suits,

with whiskey in hand

and hands clean of blood,

who talk about glory,

about honor.

but they´ve never seen intestines

hanging from a tree

nor smelled fear steaming in the mud.

they talk about war like ordering

coffe light with sugar,

the word excites them

like a fool is excited

by an unloaded gun.

they think everything

can be fixed with bullets,

as if bullets were dreams,

because they don´t konw

what conflict really means.

they dont´t know how a severed leg

screams in the middle of dust.

they love war

because they think it wont´t touch

them.

they think it´s a movie

they think it´s destiny

they think it´s man´s business

while they keep eating well

and fucking their secretaries

in clean offices.

but war,

brother,

war is not for men.

war is for beasts.

and only a fool

ask to see it up close

without knowing

there´s no way back

when your dreams

reek of gunpowder and bones.
