Whispers of wind shake and shudder
the trees' tender, lithe leaves.
Smooth sand crunches, compresses underfoot.
Birds serenade each other sweetly.
Trickles of liquid dance over rounded rocks,
adding ancient voices to nature's symphony.
Ahead, children splash - giggling, playing, exploring.
Beyond, in the depths, I languish lazily,
losing myself in the grip of the river's slow pulse.
Sounds warp under water.
Burdens are baptized - summarily squelched -
Leaving me
carefree.
