To the ones who remind us
I lost a very important teacher to COVID, she inspired me to trust in myself and motivated me to start writing. She is a constant reminder that there are good people in this world. I dedicate this to her
I write this as a reminder of what happened
A reminder that with all good comes bad
A reminder of the time when the earth needed a break and the only way to get it was to lock us up, isolate us and force us to stop
Force us to pick what’s important
Force us to work together
Force us to support one another
Make us realize we need one another
I write this as a reminder of the pain
The isolation
Being forced to acknowledge the bruised, quiet and sheltered parts of yourself
A reminder not to take goodbye for granted because sometimes you don’t get to say it
A reminder not to take love for granted because you feel it the most when alone with your thoughts and all you want is someone to hold you
A reminder that for some reason the good tend to die
A reminder that everyone dies
A reminder that you can't protect everyone
A reminder that you can’t even protect yourself
I write this as a reminder of who stood together
A reminder of who was lost
A reminder that they were not lost in vain
They are a constant reminder
A statement showcasing the importance of loving people
Of being there for people
Of cherishing the people who matter most to you
Cherish the people who believe in you even when you can’t fathom why
I write this as a reminder to cherish your body
Cherish other bodies
Cherish different places
Acknowledge different faces
Acknowledge that there are problems every day so that we can come together to solve them
Clean out all that junk hidden under the rug
Filled with lies and deceit and discrimination and propaganda
This a reminder to never let that junk hid under the rug
A reminder that by ignoring it you allow it to get bigger
You allow the mess to grow till you can no longer find the rug it was hiding under
You allow the earth to become so messy it has no choice but to lock us up
Force us to pick what’s important
Force us to work together
Force us to support one another
Remind us to be there for people
Remind us to cherish the people who matter most to you
Remind us to cherish the people who believe in us even when we can’t fathom why
-Your smile will be a reminder Ms.Nguyen
