To the Girl I once was

a plead for the life I did not know I would live

Dear Girl at 17 at the cusp of your life's beginning,

You have to tell her before you leave

You won't be there to keep them safe anymore

You are joining the Army and everything in your life is about to change

She will be ok

They will all be ok

There is so much you have yet to learn

So much you have yet to do

Diagnosis that will come to light

You already know so much of who you are

Yet you choose to hide it

Fear of the God you now know

Will be the basis of the relationship with the God you learn to grow with

People will leave

The right ones will come back

Be patient

Trust in the process of who will end up at your table

Chairs will have to be taken away

Don't give away your heart so quickly

Don't lose who you are in 100 hour work weeks

Love so many people in your life extra hard

For they will become memorial tattoos that will cover your arms

You can't save everyone

It is time to save yourself

Sincerely,

32 year old me out of remission
