A Poem

To start

To try

To attempt

But never to prevail.

To want

To desire

To have

But to never be satisfied.

To leave

To distance

To turn

But never losing presence.

To love

To laugh

To cry

But never really feeling.

To know how to be human

To have been human

To have been alive

But never to have lived.

To have had the opportunity

But to never have been your fullest.

To find your purpose.

To fulfil a dream.

To scream

The obscene profanities

That will only distress the rest of humanity.

To scream

At the top of your lungs

Just to get the attention your require.

To shout

From the rooftops

Your deepest darkest desire.

To liberate

Your soul to obliterating heaven.

Will and intent

Are forever forbidden.

Beggars through my grave

Wake up only to be saved.

To start again

From a miserable end

To never know

And only pretend.

To have been?

Or to never have been?
