To Find Clara

Our Friend

A lovely horse so lively pure,

Of an innocence to so adore,

In the nights of riding alone,

Through skies of stars so unknown,

There was lightning upon the dawn -

Before we settled to campfire song -

And the horses’ eyes shined by fire,

With shiny fur that reflected desire,

For rest to sublime the weary time,

The horse was so beautifully mine,

And we rested that night under stars

Of bright moonlight to look afar,

And sleep in slumber of quiet dream -

The solitude a cowboy needs.

And so in the morning, we rode again,

and his silky white fur would never dim,

Strong in the wind he trotted sleek,

To run at wild and never be beat,

With a spirit of thunder never slow,

And muscles of steel to mortally grow,

And we rode together as friends do -

In earthy mind and morning dew.

For my hat was soaked by sun so fierce,

Made of iron no bullet could pierce,

And my horse, was resistant to pain,

With a silky coat that shines by rain,

We rode this day so long together,

To find our love, a horse named Clara.
