To Be The Color Purple

Isaac Newton says that the color purple does not exist

But I must beg to differ

Purple is an independent color, signifying power and ambition

Representing wisdom and pride

Purple gives me a place to hide

Oh to be purple

Purple is my safe space

When i’m feeling weak, I ask for better days,

For purple days instead of blue ones

I ask for royal emotions instead of my true ones

Purple is a color that only a few can understand

But oh to be purple

But I think that we’ve been listening to dead white men a little bit too long
