To Be Forever Changed

He crumbles beneath the weight of his past,

Tortured by his humble decisions and ultimate mistakes,

Hiding from the pain, escapism his goal,

As he succumbs to his hatred, his spirit breaks.

He scorches the valley of his birth,

Trolling his nemesis in his endeavour to do better,

Listening to his heartbeat racing against time,

Secrets to be kept, spilled within a scarlet letter.

***

He rides the possibilities of tomorrow,

Searching for the wisdom of his ancestors,

Written in blood, the lessons burn,

Standing face to face with his greatest protesters.

***

The clouds hover above his forehead, darkening,

Threatening to burst upon his dreams,

Fissures appear in his public facade,

Guilt driving him asunder in its extremes.

***

The sea breeze blows across his barren face,

Feathering his troubles into unknown lands,

Erasing his torment on the whim of a gale,

Allowing his easing temperament to lay other plans.

***

Seldom does he involve those he loves dearly,

Determined to smother them within his joy,

Wrapping them in the comfort of his loving heart,

Standing firm against those who choose to annoy.

***

His future will be brighter if he was to trust,

Leave the worrying behind and live for today,

Smile wildly with the unknown anticipation,

Have faith that life will never allow him to go astray.

***

Yesterday changed the man he once was,

A being he’ll never encounter again,

He’s moving towards the best of the best,

Becoming a better version despite all the pain.

***

When he awakens with the dawn he’ll soon discover,

Strengthened with regret and head bending shame,

He’ll react differently when he next encounters a battle,

As he’s forever changed, never to be the same.

***

Sunlight shines upon his fair head,

Raising his mane in its golden glory,

He’s a lifetime of happiness and lessons to forge,

All playing a part in his famous story.
