Birthday Poetry

He does not see how I sparkle.

I honestly couldn’t tell you

When I decided I could only love

The boys who looked at me like an adventure,

The boys who followed me through the air-

Good for nothing and forgetful,

Arrogant and lost.

You must be bad for me to be loved by me.

And I honestly couldn’t tell you

When I decided to make his problem my problem

Even when he doesn’t love me,

Even when he doesn’t look at me.

He is a lost boy,

And I belong to him,

But he does not care.

He does not see

How I sparkle,

And now

I’ve already drunk his poison.
