Time Makes Fools of Us All

Time makes fools of us all

Our skin sags and wrinkles

Gray hairs creep out by the roots

Weight loss, weight gain—

All beyond our control

Time makes fools of us all

As our minds slowly slip away

One day, it’s our keys gone missing

The next day, we can’t find our way home—

Everything beyond our control

Time makes fools of us all

As it steals our friends and family

One by one, they leave our side

Here one day, gone the next

Their exit beyond our control

Time makes fools of us all

Our identities gone in a flash

Who are we now? Who were we then?

Why can’t we be who we once remembered?

Time is beyond our control
