Time has passed, I love, I wish

A poem of regrets and reminiscence

I saw you again today

Walking with your friends, laughing away

I walk past, moving on with my day

Is what I wish happened

You've always been a special kind of hell for me

One glance, and the dam breaks loose

I love you, I love you

But do I really love you?

I am always quick to fall

Heart racing, imagination skipping

It all happens so fast

Keeping me in a prison from the past

I am always quick to fall

But my eyes are forever veiled

A sheet of ignorance enveloping my eyes

When did you start to change?

Standing on my own

Drowning in a sea of unknown

Faces around me, all so blurry

When did you become a stranger to me?

I fell in love with the people I used to know

Figments of my past, memories long left behind

Times change, people change

Yet I cling dearly to the warmth of familiarity

I love late-night talks

I loved your sweet voice

I love discovering new things

I loved it when you taught me something new

I love feeling connected

I loved sharing bits of my life with you

I love feeling understood

I loved the simple words of comfort you offered me

I love, I love, I love

I love you so

Everything I love leads back to you

And it hurts

The grip of nostalgia holds me tight

A tight rope around my neck

Pulling me back to the past

I wish things never changed

I wish I were here with you

I wish I could have been there for you

I wish I had seen the signs

I wish I hadn't been so blind

I wish for your happiness

I wish for your freedom

I wish you all the best

I wish I could be free like you

I wish, I wish, I wish

I wish I weren't so selfish

I wish I didn't care so much

I wish I were free from the trap you set for me

In this limbo

I count the days

Sometimes wanting to curse your name

Sometimes wondering where I had gone wrong

But you're gone now

A mere phantom in my past

You pass me by and I pretend I don't see

It hurts to see you so

heartbreak
