Time: A Pantoum

A short poem

Its eyes see all

The vices and virtues of our lives

Every day we hear it's quiet call

It ringing in our ears, we survive

The vices and virtues of our lives

Haunts us until the day we die

It ringing in our ears, we survive

Its song never lies

Haunts us until the day we die

It's all-knowing eyes

Its song never lies

This fact most despise

It's all-knowing eyes

Are the numbers upon its face?

This fact most despise

We can never catch it, no matter how long we chase

Are the numbers upon its face?

Staring at us with a mocking smile

We can never catch it, no matter how long we chase

“Tick tock tick tock” it smiles

Staring at us with a mocking smile

Our legs turn to led

Staring at us with a mocking smile

It knows when its song ends we are dead
