Tiger Man McCool

A Tribute to Bobby Bare

By Andrew C McDonaldPublished 2 years ago • 1 min read

Though his bullpen be a bar, his bed a stool

Any who offer reproach truly a fool

Note the swollen knuckles, cauliflower ear

All who challenged taught to fear

A torrent of terror ready to gore

Any who approach and ask for more

Poke the bull if you’ve the nerve

Then run, duck, dodge, and swerve

For if cast upon those mighty horns

Surely shall rue day you were born

For this is a man untamed

Who has fought all and been not lamed

Picking fights with thunderstorms, charging into trees

Yet he needs a friend upon stormy seas

Not another braggart with something to prove

Wanting to make the immovable object move

Perhaps instead approach slowly

Knowing this fearsome beast be not lowly

Offer respect and a sympathetic ear

Instead of insults buy him a beer

Make of this old giant a friend

Who knows where the path may wend
