I missed the thunder rolling

And the lightning crashing down.

I waited for the rain to fall

and drench my silken gown.

Held my face up to the sky,

And asked the Gods for mercy.

All I want is raging winds,

But I don’t think they heard me.

Settled in to wait them out,

I can sit all night -

But still no answer from the skies

in answer to this blight.

The moon revealed her silvery shape,

And stared upon my soul.

She soothed my rage and dried my tears

And reinforced my goal.

I raised a fist and raised my voice

“Why don’t you hear my call?”

And still the sky was silent

as my tears began to fall.

Tender shoots grew round my feet,

And soon began to flower,

Thoughtfully I raised my eyes

And wondered at their power…
