Thump, thump, thump
Goes the heart
Goes the mind,
Thump, thump, thump
Goes the knock on the door
Goes the hand of the clock-
A mystery unraveled
But better left unsolved-
Words poured from mouth
Unable to be taken back
Unable to change the course
Of events that brought us to
Heart hammering point.
A change not foreseen
An empty chair
An empty place
In mind and in eye,
An empty place
Where a hand once rested.
Eyes rest on bare seat
Blink, blink, blink
Silence descends
Tick, tick, tick
Of emotion.
