Who seeks a throne?

For what purpose?

Looks like a mighty

uncomfortable place

to take a nap

from here.

On display: look up at me.

Congratulations for ascending

a few steps and taking a seat;

we’re very impressed

by your dais and fancy chair.

Do the rest of us a favor:

stay there,

out of the way—

we have work to do.

Intrusive rhyme bothers me, except as a weapon.

Intertextuality is my passion.
