It is the unhindered passion

unbridled and thrashing

that truly draws two people together

and whatever they might have in uncommon

there is no doubt that without passion

without such a material to fashion

love and joy and art the world unfurled

would be like like a sidewalk

where I’d walk lifeless spineless

grizzled with my heart

chiseled out of stone

the weeds in the cracks

where gardens should have grown

no one home in my head

spirits roam and live on bread

as my mind tried to find

a reason for the seasons

where the mashing of emotions

and gnashing of teeth in a life so brief

would if it could

be as it should

free the near epiphany

of our tears.
