thoughts upon moonbeams

a dark kind of sleepy mood

By Novel AllenPublished 11 months ago • 1 min read

hello moonbeam - dear one

today my brain is so tired

i have outthinked myself into a fog

not all days awaken brightly lit and cheery

some just desire to crawl back under

warm sheets that mask morn's insecure hues

you know those i dont wanna face the world days

well today is not an upper case kind of day

nor does it feel like punctuating anything

it has dawned with those down feelings of

lower case blues so daunting

sometimes I feel so mired down bogged

phantom pains weep mourn and gnash their teeth

no rest they lash we cry metaphor it still hurts

the lash still echoing across my naked skin

invisible ghosts still exist i wail

they haunt they urge me to join them

throw in the towel

fall into the mire into which their souls

have been damned for all eternity

the bog-mire surrounds

only way out is up

throw me a lifeline please

save me from myself

unmire my foolish absent soul

where are you though moon thing

do you pity me laugh at me

laugh with me

i cannot see you

hiding behind that cloud

dont be sad

day has dawned

brightness finds my head

buried under the comforter

comforted by the dark

maybe later i will unearth myself

and find comfort

in your lovely glow

until then

your hidden friend

hiding from self

in a world going mad
