Those Who Once Loved Me

Living in the aftermath of mania

This universe is dead

My soul is engulfing in flames

A burning wreckage of the Sun, raining bright orange and neon yellow embers onto everyone and everything in its path.

Scalding and smeltering rusty discolored streetsigns

The trembling fingers of those who once loved me.

Once...

I am Lucifer's desciple

Wreaking havoc in cold, dark city alleys.

I'm the masked man with long, black leather gloves holding an icy silver pistol to a timid lady's cranium

I am the devil himself

With a crooked smile, blackened teeth

And head cocked sideways with an evil snare.

I am a streetlight explosion echoing in the silence of midnight

Where the scrawny, dusty homeless man tries to read

A crusty, crinkled up Better Homes and Garden magazine that he scraped from the bottom of Miss Linda's recycling bin laying sideways halfway into the street

I am the monster leaving him once again to wonder

'Why me?!'

I am gravity ripping and pulling the plane through the angry winds

While the petrified passengers grasp their parents, daughters, sons and wives for their dearest lives

Into the roaring, pissed off, hungry waves of the sea only to be swallowed whole or cut into a million tiny pieces.

One last time.

I am the burner of bridges.

The destroyer of love.

The killer of souls.

But I still don't know why.
