Those birds, Fishes, and Dogs

The bird that used to wait,

wait for those little grains of rice,

from the outstretched hand of that shopkeeper,

now wonders, wonders what has happened,

what has happened to the world?

as it keeps flying to the spot, hoping against hope.

*

The fish that swarmed across the lake,

wanting to grasp those delicious treats,

handed by faces many, one after the other,

now wonders, wonders why did it stop, suddenly stop?

as its eyes keep searching for that daily commotion,

hoping to hear that familiar sound of food dropping.

*

The stray dog, walking miles to reach that restaurant,

waiting for those kind pair of eyes, patting her back,

opening up his bag of food, driving all her tiredness away,

now wonders, searches for those pair of eyes, everywhere,

whilst her stomach wanting some crumbs of bread,

hoping for some stranger to pat her, love her, and feed her.
