There are bumps in the road that our eyes cannot see

there are paths we were not meant to wander

But still we traverse them, for our will is free

will we ever learn, a question to ponder

From the beginning of time, we were given a light

a command from the maker of things

Created to lead the lost out of the dark

when successful, the angels will sing

The surreal effect of a flicker

bringing light to reveal the dark

A little air and the flame will grow bigger

a forest fire, from one tiny spark

We were conceived to be more than the darkness

a light within, to see beyond one's sight

If in tune, it can act as a compass

leading us out of the night
