It was always all about me

You thought you could win

But you could not see

~

I thought eventually we’d agree

You’d flash me your grin

We’d drive off and be free

~

I stopped believing in we

When you grabbed my chin

And told me we couldn’t be

~

I decided it was time to flee

I packed my car and jumped in

I could no longer pay the fee

~

Consistency was the key

You threw my hopes in a bin

You’d only love me to a degree

~

You regretted it and started to plea

Like leaving was a sin

You wanted to come back to me

In that moment I knew you would see
