This Fog

This fog haunts every mind.

It's gray and strict,

limiting sights

with unspoken rules

about the confusion of life.

This fog can't be defined.

-

Its harsh smothering

teases with figures

faint, ominous,

threatening without proof.

This fog and my fears aligned.

-

Its unwelcome waves

create false tales

of attacks riding

the waves with ease.

This fog is a truth and lie.

-

Its unknown leave

keeps it alive

as lessons

from life's long beatings.

This fog, its purpose, is assigned.

-

Its disappearance

can be relief

or the last thrill

of a lost journey found.

This fog haunts every mind.
