Thirty Five Years of Color

a multi-point perspective

By Michelle ScottPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

Marriage

A powerful soul-inspiring

mulberry plum

if fortunate enough to find a match

that doesn’t strike at all the wrong times

A click-clock stocked

with strands of struggle

and tenderness

Sides stitched with laughter

and perseverance

and compromise

Holding tight to a tiny yellow and black

Bumble Bee

A polka-dot tack on

the bulletin board sticks

The calendar swings

freely

Sometimes it gets stuck

on Monday

The feel of cool and crisp

chartreuse butter lettuce

freshly mowed

and wet

Lying on your back

you look up at the stars and wonder

Where’d the golden moon go?

It’s bright smiling fullness

misunderstood

It can waver

It can wax

It turns silver

But it returns every day

to be hot and bothered

or sad and bitter entwined

With sweet red chocolate-covered

cherries

It is ever so easy to

wish it was easy

surreal poetry
