Think Snap Under

Think Snap Under

If I look ahead, I see only blue sky.

I stand level with the thick white clouds rolling in from the west.

It’s where I keep my gaze most days.

I try not to look down.

My balance is stead; my feet sure, but that’s not the problem.

The horizon is where I want to be, where I need to be.

It’s where my head has been since I got here.

Sometimes I look down.

It’s not scary, but it’s not safe.

Sometimes people float by from places in the past, present, and I think from the horizon.

They make suggestions to guide me towards the horizon.

It always involves taking a step.

Far below failure and complacency beckons.

Under my feet a fragile nothing.

What’s holding me up?

What’s calling me down?

Is my burden light or do I hold the weight of the world on my shoulders?

If I step forward I will know?

Am I’m flying or falling?
