Think

Please Think

By Colleen Millsteed Published 3 years ago Updated 3 years ago 1 min read

It only takes a few little words

To cause irreparable heartache and grief,

This has been proven time and again

No matter what your belief.

***

So please think very very carefully

About that lie you're going to tell,

Is it really worth the trouble it'll cause

And whose life will end in hell?

***

It would be so much kinder

In the long run to tell the truth as it is,

And let them feel a little pain

Than deeply hurt them like this.

***

It really is important

To think the coincidences through,

For sorry might not be good enough

To fix the pain, if lie you do.

***

Who are your going to hurt?

Are there children involved anywhere?

Stop now the pain you could be causing

Instead say something loving and fair.

***

Everyone concerned will be happier

And you'll be able to sleep at night,

The relationship will be easier salvaged

Than a lie or sorry might!!!

About the Creator

Colleen Millsteed

My first love is poetry — it’s like a desperate need to write, to free up space in my mind, to escape the constant noise in my head. Most of the time the poems write themselves — I’m just the conduit holding the metaphorical pen.
