The things my body has forgiven me for:

Standing up too fast after being stagnant too long,

The room is tilting like it's deciding whether to let me back in.

Becoming old never used to come with dizziness.

Now I wait three seconds before I trust my own legs.

.

The marks on the skin from blades and heartbreak,

while the youth feel invincible.

Being young and stupid only has its limits —

Mine came close to the edge of one,

and thankfully, it didn't expire long ago.

My body kept the scars and dropped the grudge.

.

The things my body has forgiven me for:

Falling asleep too late and waking too early,

running on whatever the mind has left over.

An anxious mind is always lost in thought —

And somehow the body still shows up for it anyway?

.

Stretch marks from a life carried to completion, after one that wasn't.

Miscarriage happens.

Rainbows find their way back after rainy days.

She will always be my world now.

.

Things my body has forgiven me for:

I've stopped keeping the list.

It never asked me to.
