Things Change

a short poetry story

"I never understood why you stopped talking to me," he finally said after the awkward hello. This was the first time that he'd seen her in a few months. They used to be so close.

Confused, she looked at him. "I told you I loved you but you didn't love me, too. I couldn't keep pretending like after that we were just cool. I needed to get over you."

"But I miss you. You know I have love for you." He wanted to touch her, but he didn't make a move.

He just didn't understand, but she no longer felt wronged. She smiled at him, because she had finally moved on.

She said, "I hope that one day when you tell someone you love them, they will feel the same way."

She gave him a hug and walked away. Hopefully, he would realize that after your heart breaks, things change, and they can never be the same.
