So many yearn to ravish with their gaze

What my darkness shields from their hungry eyes

I scoff at their primitive, lusty craze

And dutifully serve as your disguise

For I know how precious your beauty is

Aesthetic judgment is a cat's forte

Each subtle detail, his mind notices

And shrewdly assesses, like a high court

I relish your warm, sheltering embrace

My nerves are tuned to your heart's metronome

Your pale contours lesser bodies disgrace

Eclipsing your light makes me feel at home

Your faithful familiar, I'm proud to be

Trust me to decide how much they can see

Ekphrastic
