They Stare

Paralyzed with fear

They Stare

My mouth moves but no words come out,

My eyes water but no tears slip,

I try to move but my arms feel bound together,

It feels wrong, nothing feels right,

I want to scream,

I want to make any type of noise,

But the room stays silent,

Nothing echoes back at me,

I fear for my life as the eyes stare back,

They are the ones I see in my dreams,

In my nightmares,

I can't even turn to look,

My head stuck in a vice,

They creep closer and closer,

I want to run, I want to hide,

But I'm still frozen in fear.

They look down at me, raised over my face,

I shut my eyes and wait,

For there is nothing else I can do,

I can't even scream.
