They Got Him

Woke up to the sirens, red and blue lights flash

Cuffs on his wrist, they were taking out the trash

Mama on the porch screaming through the glass

Daddy in the cell, praying that it pass

He was in the trap, chasing every dollar stack

Now he’s wearing orange, sitting on his back

Told him slow down, he was moving too fast

Now the only thing movin' is the hands on the clock, facts

They kicked in the door, didn't give him no chance

Said he had the work, said he had the plans

Now his little homies out there doing the dance

Trying to fill the shoes, but they don't understand

Street took another one, another one down

Another one lost in the system now

He was just a kid with a dream and a crown

Now the crown on the ground, and the dream in the ground
