They Got Him

Steel gates slam, lights flash red in the hallway

Mama crying on the line, "they took my baby away"

He was just chasing dreams, now they chasin' his name

Whole block on freeze, ain't nobody playing the same

They came in the night, kicked the door like it owed them

Cuffed his hands, dragged him out like they own him

Now the streets talk low, whispers float through the smoke

Everybody know but nobody spoke

He was the one with the plan, the one with the hope

Now the system got him caught in the scope

They watch as he gets dragged into the hole
