There’s Something I Never Said

There’s some things I never said to you. A poem about you, for you.

Skin so beautiful that words don’t even do you justice

Skin that looked so divine in any light

Every photograph

Every time I laid eyes on you

Skin I’ve never had the pleasure to formally touch

Skin that she now gets to caress at night

A feeling that I’ve never felt

Your lips against mine

But a feeling that I miss

I didn’t do right by you

And we both know this

But if I may

I’d like to speak

Fear

I was afraid

Afraid to love you authentically

Not because of you

But because of who I was

Afraid of opinions

Afraid of accepting what I’ve known for years

Afraid that just maybe

Maybe you could've been the one

Uncertainty

Uncertain of if I was deserving you

Because at the the time I didn’t

And I damn sure don’t now

But maybe

Just maybe

I can be

Uncertain of being accepted

A game I’ve never played

But want to so badly

For you

A chance I missed

You’re happy now

I won’t disrupt that

I can wait

However long you need me to

Lovers will come and go

This we both know

But I will always be waiting

If your eyes were to ever land on these words

I’m sure you can already guess

Ask me

And I’ll tell you

It’s all for you.
