There's A World Out There That's Fighting

Are we its friend or foe?

There's a world out there that crying.

Oceans overflowing with salty tears that mourn what our greed has destroyed.

There's a world out there that fuming.

Forests up in angry flames before we can rob them of their evergreen virginity.

There's a world out there that fighting

to survive each day as it comes.

But we're fighting too.

Competing to win the race to the summit of the mountain of rubbish we have made.

The life we live is a contest.

Who has the most money,

the nicest car,

the latest tech.

Who's the smartest? Prettiest? Sportiest? Happiest?

Who has the most success?

But when we win it's a planet that loses,

And that's not fair.

that's not right.

Who are we to say we are worth more than our world?

Who are we to pick that fight?
