There Are Many Worlds On This Earth

A Poem

There are many worlds on this earth,

Many lands and many skies.

Hard land, soft land, hot land, cold land

Blue skies, grey skies, clear skies, close skies.

What I can touch with my arms outstretched,

Is all I know this world to be.

But if I take one small step to the left, or the right,

A new world enters me.

Once I saw another world.

Not too far away,  on this very planet, in fact.

On this very land where we stand now,

Another sits, another walks, another lies, another runs.

Some even crawl across the sand,  grass,  tarmac and snow,

Through trees and caves and mountains and shacks,

With lions and lambs, elephants and snakes.

These are their stories. Their memories and their worlds,

Told once by them, and once by theirs,  now touched by us once more.
