A Poem

The darkness crept in

The light glowing before him

He felt nothing

And yet everything all at once

The caffeine opening his eyes to the day

Characters spilling from his pen

But what to make them say

They all run through his head

Carolyn is chasing her hen

Margo has turned Phil into a wren

Switching genres again and again

The ship is loaded

The crew strapped in

Space pirates launch themselves into the inky blinking void

Inspiration everywhere

From a simple phrase

To reminiscing on The Noid

Puns and prose mixing in kaleidoscopic fanfare

Always promoting one’s wares

Hoping one day to be there
