Inaccuracy of feelings cannot change true things

No matter how much your heart believes it so

Feeling like the world is rougher on its poor beings

Despite those feelings, the answer is no

---

When Mays come around, and it still snows

It doesn't mean the end of spring

And if you notice that those who love fishing still goes

Whenever the idea explodes in their heads like an alarms ring

---

The news isn't always good

But it's delivered at the highest of speed

And Chicago politicians care less about kids in the hood

When it comes to teaching the illiterate to read

---

The world has always been bad

It's enough to make the heart ache

It only feels like the world's more sad

Because, from you, your soul it would always take

---

It's always been as rough as today

It's not getting any worse or better

It's only been the attention to details you don't pay

Until you were forced to see the world getting redder

---

It's always been violent and harsh

Forever, since the dinosaurs ruled

The world's been a rough place since little things crawled from the marsh

Please don't let yourself be fooled

---

It is the times that make it feel so bleak

Not the world itself

It seems worse because our minds have gotten weak

And common sense was put to rest on a dusty old shelf

---

The world has always been as harsh as what you see

Even in such peaceful places as Sweden

Since the first of our kind came to be

Even in the Garden of Eden

---

Remember the stories of history past

There were just fewer when it began

The first murder between Cain and Abel would not be the last

No matter how much the poor bastards ran

---

The world has always been filled with darkness and light

From when there were just four

But one in four killed their own brother with angry delight

And began a path that would lead to many, many, many more

---

The world has always been

Just this messed-up blue ball in space

There was never going to be a way for humans to win

Toward death, we were all made to race
