The Woodsman

For all those still lost, the ones who've been found, and the one's who saved us

There is a forest dark and deep

And few there dare to tread

For all but some are safe at home

Tucked inside their beds

But for those some the woods they beckon

Crying out at night

And through their dead limbs whisper

Come sample dark delights

For the man who's life feels empty

Who's heart feels just like stone

He heeds the calling on the wind

And let's it blow him far from home

In those woods of isolation

Amid twisted thorns and roots

The man he mourns the boy he lost

The boy he was in youth

On his knees lost and defeated

Upon the forest floor

The man recalls the home he left

And the way things were before

Then one day a woodsman comes

Searching through the trees

And finds the lost and hopeless man

Down upon his knees

The woodsman takes and guides the man

And shows him to the road

Then the woodsman points and says

"That's the way to go"

The man begins to thank his savior

Who's face has been concealed

Just then the woodsman lifts their hood

And this is what's revealed....

The Woodsmen are the ones who stay

Who love you through it all

Who left to search the treacherous woods

When you were beckoned by it's call

They are the ones you hurt the most

But when tried they did stay true

And when you left them for the woods

They came after you

So thank your weary Woodsmen

And always be aware

Never take someone for granted

Because Woodsmen can be rare

And remember this oh wayward wanderer

Of this you must be wary

Someone may be lost and found

But they can not be carried

Woodsmen they can search the woods

And then show you the way

But it is up to you to choose

To either leave or stay

And if you decide to leave the forest

Don't forget the path you took

So when someone else is lost and hopeless

You'll know where to look
