The Wind Kissed The Rain
To mark the end of the rain’s absence

The Wind Kissed The Rain
The wind kissed the rain tonight,
Like two lost souls meeting in the dark,
No words were spoken between them,
Yet something ancient left its mark.
The moon hid behind a crooked cloud,
While shadows whispered through the trees,
And every drop that touched the earth
Carried secrets on the breeze.
I heard the wind call out my name,
But no one stood there when I turned,
The rain fell cold upon my face,
Like memories that never learned.
A black bird watched from somewhere high,
Its eyes held stories I could not read,
Perhaps it knew what waits for us
When darkness plants its hidden seed.
The wind kissed the rain once more,
And the night began to breathe,
I swear I saw the darkness smile
As something vanished underneath.
Maybe the storm was never weather,
Maybe it came to wake the dead,
Maybe the rain remembers everything
We thought the years had left unsaid.
So I stood beneath that midnight sky,
While heaven wept across the ground,
And wondered if the wind was carrying
The souls of those who can’t be found.
Then silence came, as strange as prayer,
And darkness folded into blue,
The wind stopped kissing the rain,
And somehow I knew it had been through me too.
