The Whiskey Sun
A commentary on the many Californians (including me) moving to states like Tennessee.
Welcome to the whiskey sun
Where folks have lived for generations
Transplants are a dime a dozen
But we still cling to our traditions

I admit I'm one of those girls
Stuck in the middle of the crossroads
They say that you have to choose
But I'm a citizen of two worlds
***
California is my past
Tennessee is my future
I was born as a grizzly bear
Now I'm a mockingbird, a singing creature
***
My heart belongs to the beach
There I bathed in the golden sun
But my dreams will stay in the Smokey Mountains
Here I come, whisky sun
***
Come on down to the whiskey sun
Where the west coast meets the eastern sky
Horses race on electric wheels
I'll take my beer with a bottle of wine
***
See a land of cowgirls
Mixed with the surfer queens
They both wear daisy dukes
While climbing a wave of trees
***
California days behind me
Tennessee days ahead
Trade bikinis for suede boots
But why not keep both instead
***
My heart belongs to the beach
My dreams now live in a raging river
Come on down to the whiskey sun
