THE WELCOME SPEECH
(MUSINGS OF THE NON-POETIC ONE)
WELCOME, I BID THEE. WELCOME
Welcome to this straight but twisted path,
where the stones sing and the pigs fly
and everyone's castle is but a reflection of their mind
where smiles are but lock-jaws concealing razor teeth
that have no chill even to their blood
and nought is seen of good-hearted thoughts asides foolery
Or so is taught.
Welcome, Innocent one,
This innocence you bring with thee, I charge
that you cherish it while you can
For the time will come when it will be ripped from you
And the choice will be yours; to don the garb of experience
or forever remain naked at the mercy of those who look at you
but do not see you
Welcome, blameless one
Everyone is faulty but themselves.
Be not alarmed; a dirty mirror perceives not its own filth
But wastes not time in pointing out the filth of others
Yet it gets reminded of its shortcoming, and kindly ignores it
"In the mouth of two or three witnesses the truth is established"
Oh but phooey. So much for the words of the Holy Book
But they stand true so the mirror is left to choose
Between its glaring folly and a self-righteous truce.
Welcome, my love
Oh but a word so precious,
Hath many children yet no son
It's reputation stained by the philosophies
of many vocal artists, who wished
to render this word a painting so sacred
it could be likened to the Immaculate Conception
But ended with the Chaos of Babylon
And the roots of chaos- oh how fast they grow!
How quick is the spread of its branches,
how difficult to thwart its growth!
Welcome, I bid thee, welcome.
'Tis a strange world we live in, but this I have for thee, child
One thing I tell, that will change everything:
Find the One, the essence of everything
The True Love, The True Guide-seek Him with thine heart
And may this crooked path, straighten and find
favor in thine eyes
Selah.
